Counselling Services

Ystradgynlais Mind currently provides a counselling service from Leighton Evans of Ask4Help who specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT can help you change how you think (cognitive) and what you do (behaviour).  These changes can help you to feel better.  Unlike some other talking treatments CBT focuses on the ‘here and now’ problems and difficulties.  Instead of focusing on the causes of your distress or symptoms in the past, it looks for ways to improve your state of mind now.

CBT has proved helpful in Anxiety, Depression, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia and other phobias:  Social phobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Schizophrenia.

Appointments are generally offered on Thursdays only.  If you would like to make an appointment, please telephone us where an appointment can be arranged for you.

Volunteer Counsellors

Students who need a placement for their BAAC Accreditation are welcome.  Students, however, must arrange for their own supervision – we are not in a position to offer this.  Please contact us for more information.
